Assignment 2A- Bug List
Bug List
1. When professors make things due at 11:00pm instead of 11:59pm.
WHY: They've probably been doing this during their years of being a professor and feel like people turn in their assignments on time compared to 11:59pm.
2. People who don't answer the phone when you call back after they called a second ago.
WHY: That person probably got caught up with something or called someone else since one didn't pick up.
3. When some people who park in front of Rawlings Hall park horrible and take up half of the parking space right next to it and there are no more parking spots left.
WHY: They probably don't know how to park in tight spaces, the person next to them also took up half of their space which caused them to park that way.
4. People that get really close to your car from behind so you can go faster.
WHY: These people are probably in a rush to go somewhere and instead of switching lanes make you go faster and move out of their way.
5. The bus rider app always has glitches and says the bus is 10 minutes away and when I refresh it says 2 minutes away which makes me run to the bus.
WHY: They haven't updated the app or it doesn't have enough signal.
6. The light on 34th st and Archer Rd turning left turns green for 5 seconds on rush hour.
WHY: People going straight get priority so there's not as much congestion on archer and 34th.
7. Shands hospital's emergency wait time is crazy, I waited for 6 hours once.
WHY: It's a public hospital and a very popular one that's close to campus so most people prefer going there than North Florida.
8. Since there's barely parking on campus I hate walking to the bus stop alone late at night.
WHY: Parking spaces are available for the people without decals at 4pm. There are already few parking areas available but at this time since everyone knows this, there's barely ever any parking spaces.
9. People who spit in public on sidewalks, etc.
WHY: It's probably a habit of theirs they can't get rid of and probably don't even notice they do it or don't care.
10. When my inbox is cluttered with spam emails.
WHY: I have given my email out in various stores, so I get lots of emails on sales and free shipping. I also forget to empty it out often.
11. Having to use the bathroom and realizing they're all clogged up.
WHY: Many girls probably don't know the rules of what to flush and what not to flush and just leave it like that.
12. Not getting my delivery on the date scheduled.
WHY: The company probably estimated wrong or there was a delay with the truck drivers.
13. Buying something because it says in stock and then getting an email saying it's not.
WHY: The company or store didn't keep track of the merchandise amount and didn't update the website for accurate information.
14. When people don't say thank you after you held the door open for them.
WHY: These people probably don't have love in their hearts or are so focused on something else they can't say a simple thank you.
15. People who choose to ignore news that matters just because it's not happening to them they choose to ignore it.
WHY: Some people don't watch the news and aren't informed about things that are going on in the world where millions of people are dying every day.
16. When I place an order on Tapingo for Starbucks and it says it'll be ready so I go to pick it up and they say it's not ready.
WHY: They're so busy with the long lines and are probably backed up on orders so the app had the wrong time.
17. When people go grocery shopping and leave the carts in the middle of the parking lanes.
WHY: They were lazy to put it in the designated areas where they belong or just take it back into the store.
18. My neighbors on top of me are always making noise late at night.
WHY: They've probably never lived on the first floor so don't know how bad it sounds and they're awake later than I am so they tend to make noise during that time.
19. Washing my car and it rains right after.
WHY: I don't check the weather before washing it instead I just wash it and it's always raining in Florida.
20. When some people walk behind you and take off your shoe from the back.
WHY: They're probably walking to close to me and are in a rush or just didn't measure their footsteps.
REFLECTION: This assignment was quite challenging for me as I never really think of things that bug me that in depth. When I read the instructions for this assignment I immediately started thinking of things that bugged me and I could only think of about five on the spot. When I think of things that bug me they bug me but I don't really spend much time thinking about them. The most challenging was thinking about "why they exist" I feel like there are some things that bug me that just exist but this assignment actually made me think why? Even though I found this assignment challenging I found it useful and interesting.

Hi Guiliana! I also agree that this assignment challenged me, I thought it would be so easy to think of a lot of bugs in my every day life but I got stuck around 10! I thought this challenge was going to make me feel negative because I was specifically looking for things that bug me but it didn't because we had to explain why the bug exists, which made me see it from another, usually non-negative point of view. I think that while your bugs are great, some are lacking in length and maybe in the future you could be more specific about what you are referring to by including the time of day or specific location for example.
ReplyDeleteHi Guiliana! I really enjoyed your “bug” list, I found some of them very relatable. Especially, when you talked about the RTS bus app. I always end up missing the bus and having to wait for the next one to come. The only thing that I would fix is maybe focusing on explaining “why the issue existed” in greater detail for some of your “bugs”.
ReplyDeleteHi Guiliana, I agree with you on the rider bus app being a complete and total nightmare, especially in the mornings when you are rushing to get to class. Not only that bus is not displaying the wrong time and if you are caught on campus at night there is barely any light, it just feels so unsafe to be walking around , even if you want to believe that the campus is safe, there is always doubt. Good job on the bug list and I feel you on it being hard to really focus on the things that bugs us because I don't really pay attention to them.
ReplyDeleteHey Guiliana,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the first bug, even though it just makes me procrastinate more. I really hate number 9 with the spitting. Maybe it's culture or something but gosh it's annoying. Your reflection makes me think about how we don't think about these things until we have to look for them. It's pretty interesting how blind we are to them sometimes.
