15A- Figuring out Buying Behavior No. 2

Assignment 15A

  • In my interviews, I was able to discuss with three different people alternatives for my product. Sabrina was able to give me insightful information about how her dad tried out a BACtrack breathalyzer and it wasn't very accurate. She assured me my product is well thought out and that the case is a great idea but also presented me with the doubts of accuracy. She included some suggestions but couldn't quite think of an alternative to this product.
  • My second interview was in Library West and Daniel was actually really helpful. He gave me various alternatives but they weren't practical like the case. So then he came up with a keychain that is connected to your keys and when you blow if you're over the limit it won't let your car turn on. He thinks the case is a great idea but people can choose to still drink and drive even if they're over the limit.
  • My third interview was the same as the first. She was able to give me insightful and helpful information but not alternatives. She suggested maybe instead of a big breathalyzer like the ones seen online a smaller one that would fit in people's pockets and look like something else. Ana thinks the case is the "best idea" for this type of problem.
  • In all three of my interviews, I got information that can benefit me. Especially in my second one where he knew more about the topic and was able to give me a brilliant alternative. Although the case is a great idea it's true that people may still choose the unsafe route to this problem. If the case could connect to cars that would be great or even the app to cars. I could also tell this product would have to be cheaper than others to enter the market.

  1. Hi Guiliana,
I find it interesting that you only gained a little bit of information from your interviews. I completely understand that some people may still choose to drive while under the influence, but at least your product would be helping some people. Your product shouldn't be to solve everyone's problems, but to solve some. While some may not choose to use your product, you could still sell it to your niche population. Also, the awareness of drinking and driving is becoming more of an issue, so more people would want to buy it as the issue increases. Overall, I think you did a good job at your interviews.

  2. Hi Guiliana,
This assignment seemed to help you understand how to make the product that you want to develop better. I think by getting feedback from potential customers can ensure that the product you want to create will be useful/valuable to others. It seems like in each one of your interviews, you were able to get a better idea of how the breathalyzer should be packaged.

  3. Hey Guiliana,
It looks like this assignment is helping you develop your product. I think it would be interesting to look into why the BACtrack breatalyzer wasn't accurate. Maybe if you looked at online reviews or something, that could help too. I think the keychain breathalyzer would be really cool actually. What's also interesting is how people, though they realize what's wrong with a product, they sometimes can't think of alternatives for them. It might be that they're just too use to how things are that they haven't given it a thought. However, you're doing the thinking for them. Keep going, you're doing great!

  4. Guiliana,
I'm glad that your interviews were insightful for you and gave you useful feedback that you can help use to develop your product. My interviews were similar too, also in the fact that I gained even more new perspectives than what I had been given in past research. Keep going and I can't wait to see where your product goes.
