Assignment 11A
1. My name is Guiliana Noguera and this is my second semester as a transfer student at the University of Florida. I have a passion for working with people and find myself always wanting to learn more about others. I have chosen Advertising as my major because I intend to work with clients and helping them with whatever needs they may have. I love adventures and living every day to the fullest. I believe my business idea would influence many people around me because there are so many cases where families have lost loved ones because of drunk drivers. I would be there for these families and hopefully, reduce these tragic cases.
2. I am offering individuals a product where they can test their alcohol consumption and make sure they're fine to drive. There are products out there but they're not convenient for consumers. In the app, I will create I can include stories of people who have been through this and make it more personal. Things are different on a personal level when you can actually relate to others. When one person starts using it others will begin to use it as well.
3. I am offering my product to people ages 21+. I will also be targeting young college students who do drink without being 21. This product doesn't have a specific age because everyone goes out or has parties and drinks whether it may be one drink or more. I am targeting men and female equally. This is a product that can benefit anyone for the better. All my consumers are drinkers whether it be light drinkers or heavy drinkers.
4. I believe people will buy my product as not only precaution for them as drinkers but also for other drivers who are innocent. It's very sad to hear stories of young people who have to spend the rest of their life behind bars because of this selfish act. I believe many people will become more aware of the consequences drinking and driving leads to through my product and will always wanna carry it around with them.
5. There is a brand which is a competitor and has breathalyzers along with key chains. These products are great but many people don't want to carry these things around and pull it out in public. There are people who just want it for themselves and don't want others to know so a case is a great way to hide this. Nobody has invented a product for drinkers that's so good for the people around them and also for themselves.
6. I believe these elements work well together but I do not believe I have the connections to sell this product. It will be hard to put this product out there because I wouldn't know where to begin. Also, my ratio is really big because it's a product that basically targets 18+ people and this is huge. It will be hard to advertise my product to everyone since there's not a specific target market just drinkers. Other than these few problems, I believe my product can really affect the lives of those who would buy it.

ReplyDeleteI really like your idea of offering a product that can test people’s alcohol consumption. I think this product will be very beneficial for everyone’s safety on the road. By including personal stories, I believe that the message will get across more clearly on the true dangers of driving under the influence. You could possibly lower your target age to 18 since most freshman students are around that age and going to college parties where alcohol is present.

ReplyDeleteI agree that drunk driving is an issue, but think it might be a hard market to disrupt, as there are many products on the market that service this need. I was a little confused what your product is, and what you meant by "add stories to make it more personal". However, I think you could have better success creating this product but perhaps for driving stoned. As more states start to legalize weed, there have been an increase in high-related accidents. It would be unique and beneficial if someone created a product, similar to a breathalyzer, that could test if you were too high to drive.

ReplyDeleteI think its cool how you explained why you chose advertising as your major, to give people what they need. I think that is very fitting for this assignment/business plan because you have to market it in such a way that your competition look a lot less valuable than yours. and this is a hard market to disrupt because this issue has been around for a long time. good luck on your plans.

ReplyDeleteI think that your concept is very interesting. I also think that advertising would be easier than you think it would be. You can utilize social media to get the word out about your product. Also, since you are on a college campus, you can sell it to people on the campus and then hopefully the word would spread about the product that you are selling. Overall, I think you have a wonderful idea about having a breathalyzer phone case especially since the only competitor is a breathalyzer key chain.
