Assignment 19A- Idea Napkin No.2
Assignment 19A-
1. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
1. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
- I'm Guiliana Noguera, a junior majoring in Advertising. I see this product playing a pretty deep role in my life as I'm a very emotional person and connect with others on an emotional level. I'm a hard working student who loves to talk and socialize with others. I have strong people skills which will help me put my product out there especially on a campus with students walking around every day.
2. What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
- I'm offering customers a phone case that has a breathalyzer attached to it which connects to an app. Customers will use this product as a normal phone case and will use the breathalyzer when needed such as happy hour, a night out, etc. Customers will depend on this device to notify them if they're incapable of driving or not. Many people drink and drive on a daily basis and are not only affecting their lives but the lives of those around them. It's sad to see people end up behind bars for stupid mistakes that nowadays can easily be avoided.
3. Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
- I had originally had the age from 21 and over but based on my feedback I should decrease the age from 18 and over because as mentioned it's true that freshmen and younger students are being exposed to alcohol all around. I won't be focused on just students but will start off with focusing on the majority of students across campus. All of my customers are individuals who are aware of their bad decisions and want to improve the outcomes.
4. Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe it's valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
- In order to use this product, one has to feel on an emotional level the type of stuff that goes on when one drinks and drives. Many times those who do drink and drive think nothing will happen to them and that they're "ok." By offering testimonies through the app, it'll allow individuals to connect with these people on a deeper level which will then trigger them not to commit the same mistakes.
5. What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
- There are many companies out there who do sell breathalyzers but I have never heard of them because they are not a thing. It's boring to carry around a breathalyzer which you sometimes can even forget it exists because it's buried so deep in your drawer since it's so big. Instead, a phone case is something everyone uses and if they're created with different designs and colors that benefit everyone there are more chances of people actually using them.
In addition to these five elements, please spend a paragraph evaluating whether you believe these elements fit together or whether there are aspects of your business concept that are weaker / out-of-joint with the others.
- There are many aspects of this product where I'm unsure about since I didn't expect to get this far with it. I do think it's a great product but I feel like I don't have the sufficient connections or the sufficient amount of people who would actually use it other than those who say they think it's a great idea. I can make these connections down the road and expand on my idea with more experience and help. I have to focus on a group of 10 people who will then bring others to try it out.
Please summarize at least two main points that you took away from the feedback you received. Also, please describe how you incorporated the feedback into this idea napkin.
- The feedback I received was better than expected. I incorporated a few things such as explaining more what the deeper connection means and also setting the age to 18+ and not 21+ which is also something I had thought about. It makes more sense to set it to 18+ since I will be focusing on college students for the beginning of the journey. Someone mentioned I should've done it on marijuana but I'm not that educated on driving will being high nor the consequences I feel like I'm more educated on drinking and driving but it's something I took into consideration.
Hi Giuliana,
ReplyDeleteI like how you changed your napkin to include a more detailed description of what age would use your product. I think this will help others have a better understanding of who your product is for. I think the age that you are targeting your product for is very fitting. Especially since people who are in this age group always have their phones on them so this product will be perfect.
Hi Giuliana,
ReplyDeleteI also received feedback that was better than I thought. It surprised me that people actually understood my vision and were able to see it with my first idea napkin. I like how you had to decide on which feedback to actually use and which feedback you decided to consider and appreciate, but not act on. I also had some feedback that was good but it also wasn't in line with my business idea so I didn't use it. Overall, good revised idea napkin, I like how you implemented the feedback in a positive way.
Hey Giuliana, I like that you are honest about not knowing to do with your product because I also didn't expect to get this far or have to make it this legitimate. But I am glad that you are really fleshing it out and that the breathalyzer is a really good idea especially for students here in the University of Florida and others. I would also really focus on the emotional aspects of this because it will get more people to invest.
ReplyDeleteHi Giuliana,
ReplyDeleteI really like how thorough you were with your question answers. I do believe that having a breathalyzer is important and trying to make it appealing for college students as a requirement. You are right that a normal breathalyzer is too bulky to carry it around and many students wouldn't carry it around. Also, I liked how you took into consideration of the comments on your previous napkin idea, and changed your answers to adapt to your suggestions. Overall, you did a great job.
