25A- What's Next?

Assignment 25A-

Existing Market
The next step of my business venture would be to get a more accurate price. I don't know yet what individuals would be willing to pay or not pay. I'd also want individuals to want to buy my product and give a good word of it to others. So the price has to be accurate.

1. The first person I interviewed mentioned I need to first focus on a specific target market before expanding to everyone. She said my idea of bringing it to Gainesville first would be a good idea and that it would be successful especially if I have people that would support me.
2.  The second person stated that I need to create what the app would look like and start planning from now and implementing other peoples ideas. She said she doesn't really understand how the app would work so she would want to see it.
3. The third person stated that the breathalyzer should turn different colors depending on the level. She said what if people are super drunk and don't understand what the app is saying. The different colors will let others around them know they're not good.

I think all of the feedback I received was very helpful. I had never thought of creating a graphic of the app but this would definitely help people understand what I'm trying to explain in words. Sometimes it's hard to explain something you have painted so vividly in your head.

New Market
The new market I chose targets businesses such as bars. I had never really thought of implementing my product in businesses because I think it would be quite difficult especially since it's a case. But, now that I think about it maybe I could give free cases to bartenders and they can show and talk about it to customers. This would be a good way to put the product out there and it would a perfect setting where people are drinking.

1. The first person I interviewed is a bartender in midtown and she thought this was a great idea. She says she checks her phone several times a night and wouldn't mind talking to others about it on a non-busy night. She thinks people would be very interested.
2. The second person I interviewed works at a restaurant but she also told me that if she could she would definitely do the same. But since it's a restaurant it's quite stricter and if she's not making drinks she's helping out the waitresses or hosting so she wouldn't have the time.
3. The third person I interviewed was a gentleman who has worked at several bars before in Miami I met him on the bus.  He said he had never heard of something similar but that if I brought it to Miami it would be great because he would be able to contact me with different bartenders who wouldn't mind giving a good word.

I think the feedback I received from a market I hadn't put much thought into turned out better than expected. It's hard for people to understand what my product is but from what they understood they immediately said "no drinking and driving?" "I'm in." Especially one of the girls I interviewed she says she leaves the bar super late and has seen terrifying things happen on her way home. She says it's crazy what I see behind the bar when I'm not partying I'm always aware when I'm out and not working.

  1. Hi Guiliana, I feel you, my interviewees had trouble understanding my product concept as well. But if you were to interview me, I would immediately want in after hearing “no drink and driving” too because no driver on the road wants to be caught up in one of those accidents. In addition, the second girl you interviewed in your existing market gave a thoughtful insight about having a visual of your app during your interview with them. I never thought about doing that either, but maybe doing so would really help with getting more accurate answers from those interviewees.

  2. Hey Guiliana,
I think you're going in the right direction for your next step. Pricing. I learned something recently on pricing and that was that you don't want to make your product cheap either. No matter the competitors, you don't want to have a cheaper price than everyone else - at least not by a lot. First because of profit and then second because making your self the cheap option takes away from your authority as a seller. Like you could buy something from the dollar store for cheap but you know it might not have the same quality as if you bought it from somewhere else. Hope that helps some, good work!

  3. Hi Guiliana, I think that you keep making strides in the right direction to having a successful business. Something that is very important is visuals, most people learn better through an example or something that they can touch. They are also more likely to remember you and want to give you money for what you are doing.

  4. Hi Guiliana,
I also had the same experience with my opposite market, they couldn't quite grasp my vision entirely, which is definitely ok and gives me room to improve my pitch and explanation, but it also was sort of frustrating because I believe my feedback could have been better if they could see what I was envisioning in my head. But since they couldn't envision it exactly, I did get a wide variety of feedback, some I will definitely implement, and some I will pass on.

  5. Hi Guiliana,
I read your previous post, and I do agree that you might need a more accurate price. I believe that it will cost you more than you think, so the $35 wouldn't be feasible. However, I do believe that you will be able to sell a good amount if you are able to sell for that price. I also thought it was a really good idea that you asked bartenders if they wanted to sell your product. I didn't think about that before, but I do think that it will reach your target audience a lot easier.
