Assignment 26A- Celebrating Failure
Assignment 26A-
1. A time this semester that I failed was in my advertising class. I thought I had gone into the first exam as prepared as I could be not knowing how the test would be. I did horrible. I tried several methods of studying to see which would work best but it seems like none did because I didn't get more than a D on any test. It was hard to study from a powerpoint that sometimes he went over and sometimes didn't. Even though the material was challenging, there was a bunch of people that wouldn't fail. I felt like I was stupid especially since it's my major.
2. I learned that sometimes even if you try your hardest there's material that you won't understand. It's ok to not do perfectly in every single class. Even if it is my major I have done fine in every other class and understand perfectly fine. I also learned that it's ok to allow ourselves to feel like we're not enough we should just brush it off and think positively.
3. I think failure is hard who doesn't, especially the feeling you get when you fail. But, I also think failure serves as a lesson and helps us grow. If we didn't fail we wouldn't know what to work harder on and by failing I've learned so much about myself and the capacity I have for things. In this class, I probably overcame something I've hated for a long time which is public speaking. I had to go out there and talk to individuals I didn't know and basically sell my product and get their opinions on it. I failed when several people didn't like it but then when others did it felt good. I'd definitely say that taking risks is fine whether it be in this class or in real life.

Hey!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing about your exam. I'm so sorry to hear that! I can definitely relate to your experience, as can many others. College is tough-- you can do all of the assigned work, understand the material and still not preform well on assignments. It's frustrating and devastating! Thankfully, this course is set up for sucess, and is very clear on how to achieve it.
Hi Guiliana, I agree with what you said about failure. I think in order to understand what hard work is, you have to fail a couple of times. Without failure, I think it would be difficult for someone to grasp the idea of having to start from nothing and work their way up. As you said, I think this class has really helped me accept that it’s okay to fail what is important is how you will continue afterward.
ReplyDeleteHi Guiliana,
ReplyDeleteI feel weird commenting about your failures but it is in some way comforting that other peers are experiencing failures on some level, because it is not something people outwardly brag or discuss. But I do agree that failure serves as a tool for us to grow, whether we recognize it in the moment or not. And sometimes failure is unavoidable which sucks but it is something we should understand now so we are more accepting of it in the future.
Hey Guiliana,
ReplyDeleteWow . I think something that's interesting about this assignment is accepting your failures and it pushed you to see more from the experience. I also think it's somewhat admirable for you to share the story. We don't tend to talk about failures and you might think it's not much but sharing a story about how you repeatedly failed to others is something. I also agree with what you said that "it's ok to allow ourselves to feel like we're not enough, we should just brush it off and think positively." I mean, yeah, we aren't always at our best and we have to admit that. It's not bad to talk about failure, it's hard sometimes but it helps to accept that we can't always be the best. Good luck, hope that's a last tiime you have that experience.
